The Isra and Mi'raj is one of the most extraordinary events in the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) — a miraculous two-part journey that took place in a single night. **Isra: The Night Journey** The first part — Isra — was the journey from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem, on the back of the Buraq (a celestial mount). The Quran records: 'Exalted is He who took His servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa.' (17:1) **At Masjid al-Aqsa** At Masjid al-Aqsa, the Prophet (SAW) led all the prophets in prayer — a symbol of his status as the final and greatest messenger. **Mi'raj: The Ascension** From Jerusalem, the Prophet (SAW) ascended through the seven heavens on the Buraq with Jibreel (AS).
