Prophet Musa (AS) and the Exodus: Faith Against Pharaoh

Prophet Musa (AS) (Moses) is mentioned more than any other prophet in the Quran — over 130 times — with his story appearing in dozens of chapters. His life is a powerful narrative of faith against tyranny. **Birth and Early Life** Born during Pharaoh's massacre of Hebrew male children, Musa (AS) was placed in a basket in the Nile by his mother. Pharaoh's wife found and adopted him, and his own mother was hired as his wet nurse — a beautiful divine arrangement. **The Burning Bush** While tending sheep, Musa (AS) saw a bush on fire that was not consumed. Allah spoke to him from it, appointing him as prophet and commanding him to confront Pharaoh with two miracles: a staff that turned into a serpent and a hand that glowed white. **Confrontation with Pharaoh** Musa (AS) delivered Allah's message to Pharaoh: 'Let the Children of Israel go.' Pharaoh refused repeatedly. Allah then sent 10 plagues upon Egypt — frogs, locusts, lice, blood-red Nile, and others. **The Exodus** Allah commanded Musa (AS) to lead the Israelites out of Egypt at night. Pharaoh pursued them with his army. At the Red Sea, Musa struck the water with his staff — the sea split into twelve paths. As Pharaoh's army followed, the sea closed over them. **Pharaoh's Last Moment** As he drowned, Pharaoh declared: 'I believe in the God of Israel.' Allah said: 'Now? You disobeyed and were among the corrupters.' His body was preserved as a sign for humanity. (10:92) **Lesson** No worldly power can overcome Allah's decree. The tyrant ultimately perishes while the faithful are delivered.
