Prophet Nuh (Noah AS) and the Great Flood

Prophet Nuh (Noah AS) is one of the five greatest prophets in Islam (Ulul Azm). His story, mentioned extensively in the Quran, is one of the most powerful narratives of perseverance and faith. **950 Years of Preaching** Nuh (AS) was sent to his people who had fallen into idol worship. He preached for 950 years: 'My Lord! I called to my people night and day, but my calling only increased their flight.' (71:5-6) **The Divine Command to Build the Ark** After centuries of rejection, Allah revealed to Nuh (AS): 'And construct the ship under Our eyes and Our revelation and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are to be drowned.' (11:37) **His Son's Rejection** One of the most heartbreaking moments in Quranic narrative: Nuh's own son refused to board the ark, believing he could escape on a mountain. He drowned. When Nuh (AS) appealed to Allah for him, Allah gently corrected him: 'He is not of your family — indeed, he is one whose work was other than righteous.' (11:46) **The Flood** Water gushed from the earth and descended from the sky. All who had rejected the message were drowned. The ark settled on Mount Judi. **New Beginning** Allah commanded: 'O Nuh! Descend with peace from Us and blessings upon you and upon the nations from those with you.'
