Prophet Sulaiman (AS): The King Who Commanded the Wind and Jinn

Prophet Sulaiman (AS) (Solomon) was the son of Prophet Dawud (David AS) and was granted one of the most extraordinary kingdoms in human history — one that no human before or after him received. **His Dua** Sulaiman (AS) asked Allah: 'My Lord! Forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. You are the Bestower.' (38:35) Allah granted his request. **Command Over the Wind** Sulaiman (AS) could command the wind: 'And to Sulaiman [We subjected] the wind — its morning course was a month's journey and its afternoon course was a month's journey.' (34:12) **Command Over Jinn** Jinn worked under his command building, diving for treasures, and creating magnificent structures including Masjid al-Aqsa (the original Temple). **Understanding Animals** Sulaiman (AS) could understand the language of birds and animals. The famous incident of the ants — hearing an ant warn others of his approaching army — is mentioned in Surah An-Naml. **The Hoopoe and Queen of Sheba** The hoopoe bird reported to Sulaiman (AS) about Queen Bilqis of Sheba (Yemen) who worshipped the sun. He invited her to Islam through a letter. She eventually visited him and accepted the faith. **Gratitude Despite Power** Despite his immense power, Sulaiman (AS) was always humble and grateful. He said: 'This is from the bounty of my Lord to test whether I will be grateful or ungrateful.' (27:40) **Lesson** True power lies in gratitude and justice. The greatest kingdom means nothing without Taqwa (consciousness of Allah).
