The Story of Prophet Yusuf (AS): Patience and Divine Justice

Surah Yusuf (Chapter 12 of the Quran) contains the complete story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph AS) and is described by Allah as 'the best of stories.' **The Dream** Young Yusuf (AS) saw a dream that eleven stars, the sun, and the moon were prostrating before him. His father Yaqub (AS) recognized it as a sign of prophethood and warned him not to tell his brothers. **Betrayal by Brothers** Out of jealousy, his brothers threw Yusuf (AS) into a well and presented his shirt stained with false blood to their father, claiming a wolf had eaten him. Yaqub (AS) wept so much he lost his sight. **Egypt and the Palace** Yusuf (AS) was found and sold into slavery in Egypt. He came to serve the nobleman Potiphar. There he faced the famous trial of seduction by Potiphar's wife, and chose prison over sin. **Prison and Wisdom** In prison, Yusuf (AS) interpreted dreams for fellow prisoners. His gift of interpretation eventually reached Pharaoh, who was troubled by his own dreams. Yusuf correctly interpreted them as 7 years of abundance followed by 7 years of drought. **Rise to Power** Pharaoh appointed Yusuf (AS) as the minister of food affairs. He managed Egypt's resources brilliantly, saving the nation from famine. **Reunion and Forgiveness** Yusuf's brothers came to Egypt seeking food and were eventually reunited with him. Rather than seeking revenge, Yusuf (AS) forgave them completely: 'There is no blame upon you today. Allah will forgive you.' (12:92) **Lesson: Sabr and Divine Plan** No matter how dark life gets, Allah's plan is unfolding perfectly. Patience (Sabr) and purity will always be rewarded in divine time.
