Voluntary Acts in Umrah: Extra Worship to Maximize Reward

The days spent in Makkah and Madinah are among the most valuable of a believer's life. Every moment of worship carries multiplied reward. Here is how to make the most of your time. **Voluntary Tawaf (Tawaf al-Nafl)** You can perform additional Tawaf beyond the required one at any time. Each Tawaf consists of 7 rounds. Many scholars recommend doing as many as your health allows. **Sitting and Gazing at the Kaaba** The Prophet (SAW) said: 'The gaze at the Kaaba is an act of worship.' Simply sitting in the Haram facing the Kaaba with contemplation and dhikr is a mighty act. **Reciting the Quran** Each letter of Quran recited in Masjid al-Haram = 100,000 x the normal reward. Set a target to complete one juz (part) daily during your stay. **I'tikaf** Secluding yourself in the mosque for worship, especially in Ramadan's last ten days. Even a short I'tikaf in the Haram is extraordinarily blessed. **Night Prayers** Wake for Tahajjud and pray in the Haram. The atmosphere at 2 AM in Masjid al-Haram — with the sound of Quran echoing and the Kaaba illuminated — is indescribable. **Drinking Zamzam with Intention** Drink Zamzam with specific intentions: for health, for knowledge, for entering Paradise, for your children's righteousness. **Making Dua for Others** The Prophet (SAW) said: 'The dua of a person for his absent brother is answered.' Make dua for family, friends, and the entire Ummah during this blessed time. **Giving Sadaqah** Distribute dates, water, or small gifts to fellow pilgrims. Even a smile is Sadaqah — and its reward in the Haram is magnified.
